Argentina & Brazil Unite!

I had a wonderful surprise yesterday. First, Claudio Azevedo made a comment on my blog. Claudio is a Brazilian teacher and a friend of Carla and Erika's, who was in Buenos Aires for the ABS International Congress last month. I commented about it in my previous post.
Just after I had sent an e-mail to Claudio thanking him for his comment, I read Carla's message to BAW 06, where she put a link to her school's website. I clicked on it and was amazed at reading her colleagues' comment on their experience at the congress and their meeting with Gladys, Susana, Silvana and me, and a photo of all of us. There's even a link to a photo album with more pictures.

By the way, this morning I told my 9th grade students about Carla and Erika's Scrapbooking Project. I didn't have great expectations, since I know they are not very keen on "extra efforts". But, to my surprise, most of them raised their hands when I asked who would like to participate. Maybe not all of them will write e-mails or posts in the project blog, but at least they might put forward some ideas, bring photos, make drawings, etc. Two of them told me they already had a photolog, which is good news.
Encouraged by my students' positive reaction, I thought of taking them to the computer lab where I give the techonology course for teachers, before we actually start with the course. They could start a blog, open an e-mail account and try Springdoo, among other things. I'm sure they will love it. But this takes a lot of planning and paperwork. Lots of extra work for me! I hope it pays back...

Hello Claudia,
I am so glad to be part of Gladys' group and continue my friendships. It is very exciting all the things we learned as Webheads but even more exciting is that the learning and excitement continues! Happy Spring and enjoy the learning. Cheryl
Here is a totally silly use of computer technology, but if you have students who are fans of Star Wars, they will giggle. You do need flash.
