My Guestmap

In another of my now frequent trips through Blogosphere, I happened to land on Bravenet Guestmaps.
I liked the funny characters and the possibilities of customization they offer. You can choose what map you want to display (world, any of the continents, USA or UK); visitors can be shown as dots or funny little icons; you can edit or delete messages
When a new visitor adds himself to your map (simply by dragging a pin to his hometown location) a custom question window will pop up. You can erase the questions and ask your own.

Visitors can also choose their countries'flag, an icon from the set you have selected and leave a message.
When someone posts an entry to your map, you get an e-mail notification though they don't tell you whose it is, so you have to go and check. They also send you the code by mail for you to paste the map in your blog or website. The free version hosts up to 100 entries.

I guess this could be a useful tool for international classes. Teachers could collect info from their students, post interesting poll questions and give their students a taste of world geography.
So, world people, take a minute of your precious time and populate my almost desert map.

Just getting around to reading your older posts. I love this guestmap and have already placed it on the class wiki. As you say, with an international class it will be great! Class starts next Wednesday.... have a look at it at http://umei005.pbwiki.com in a couple of weeks, by then I hope everyone will have placed their marker.
Thanks for the inspiration!
